HOME AGAIN, HOME AGAIN, JIGGITY JIG

Thursday night, 16th August. Tuesday's physio went very well in the gym and Janet walked up and down the 4 step stairs there a few times, with only a stick. She'd had Sara cut her hair in the morning and with us having lunch with our very old friends, Derek and Karen Rorrison, at Osso in Peebles, we had had a very good day indeed.

Lunch at Osso's

Wednesday saw Janet's physio again go really well, with the result that the Occupational Therapist at Hay Lodge is coming to the house tomorrow (Thursday) to gauge what is needed for Janet to come home on a permanent basis. The O.T. and a physiotherapist will be here for an hour or so, with Janet, and it is the intention for Janet to stay on thereafter at the house until about 5pm.

Despite all the good news from Wednesday, I felt distinctly depressed and in some despair. Why? I don't really know, but it's only good news that Janet will be home soon.

Come Thursday, the O.T. and physio, with Janet, arrived at 9.20am and they spent about an hour assessing the house and Janet's ability to use both the stairs and the shower cubicle. They were more than happy with everything and said that very little needed added to the house by way of support for Janet - the main thing mentioned was a back rail in the shower for Janet to hold onto, when she showered. The O.T. mentioned that if the hospital had sufficient medication, Janet would be allowed back home permanently tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, or failing that on Monday.

Alex and Debbie arrived at lunch, with us all going to the Golf Club for a meal, after which Alex and Debbie drove back home. Janet and I went back to the house, with Frances visiting mid afternoon and I took Janet back to Hay Lodge at tea time. The Staff Nurse there then advised us both that they did have the necessary medication and that Janet would be discharged tomorrow afternoon. Fantastic news.
