THE HEAT IS ON AND THINGS ARE LOOKING UP
Monday evening, 13th August. Looks like things are on the up.
Friday saw Janet in a better mood and she had more physio, walking with just a stick. Later that day, when I was having my haircut by Sara, at The Daft Dug (don't ask) hairdressers shop in Peebles, I mentioned to Sara that I had been looking online for a hand-warmer, particularly for Janet's right hand which seemed to benefit from and be a bit more supple when it was warmed up. Amazingly enough, Sara said that she had a pair of unused hand-warmers from when she moved to her new shop, some 5 years ago or so. She found them and gave them to me. Janet was certainly surprised - and delighted - when I went back to the hospital with the hand-warmers. She immediately put them to use. I was only there in the afternoon though as I was picking up Julie from the airport in the evening.
On Saturday lunchtime, Julie, Janet and I went to The Park Hotel, at the top of the High Street in Peebles, for a spot of lunch. Very good food and we would certainly go back. Out altogether for about 3 hours and Janet in good fettle. After taking Janet back to the hospital, Julie and I got the bus to Edinburgh, to see a stand-up comedian Julie had bought tickets for, Daniel Sloss. He was very good indeed. We also went to the gin bar near the Caledonian Hotel, which is another venue I can recommend. We got back to Peebles just before 10pm.
On Sunday, we were all out for lunch again, this time also with Neil and his three daughters, and back up to the Golf Club.

A good time had by all.
This morning (Monday) and after her physio and lunch, me and Julie took Janet out for a coffee to Cocoa Black, a well known coffee and chocolate pastries shop, quite close to the hospital. We all enjoyed that before I had to take Julie back to the airport for her flight back to Heathrow.
I visited again in the evening, as usual, but this time Janet had some very good news. She had walked with her stick unaided, although the physio was obviously in attendance. Excellent news and she is making such good progress now. In fact, Janet said she is to attempt climbing stairs (in the gym) tomorrow and if all goes well, the physio will likely be visiting the house this Thursday to see what will be needed for Janet to move back home. This has certainly bucked Janet up and it's good news all round. Hopefully this will all come to fruition and I see no reason why it shouldn't. Janet had made really good progress since she moved to Hay Lodge just over 2 weeks ago. Everyone is in good spirits.
